Event Information

International Youth Diplomacy Conference (IYDC) is a flagship event of Innovation for Empowerment and Development (IFED) Global. It is an innovation of the Model United Nations Conference. A simulation of the United Nations General Assembly, Security Council and other agencies under the United Nations. It combines youths across Africa and beyond to discuss pertinent issues of Global interest. IYDC, mostly held in Accra, is educative as well as entertaining.

IYDC-Accra, 2019 will gather over 1000 youth leaders from 35 Countries to stay in Accra, Ghana to experience the African Culture and the above activities in a Global Leadership learning euphoria.

It is a combination of the following:

  • Model United Nations Conference
  • Special Committee Session
  • The Elders (Forum & Panel Discussion)
  • Ambassadorial Visit.
  • Socials and Tours.
  • Ambassadorial Dinner and Awards.
  • Social Venture Challenge

 

Theme: Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development

OBJECTIVES

Build a network of like-minded youth leaders from Africa

  • Build global leadership skills through experienced speakers
  • Learn how and be abreast on presentation, speaking and writing skills.
  • Have a positive impact on youth’s social & psychological development
  • Bring change in the leadership style of Africa and affect the world positively
  • Encourage entrepreneurship among the youth

Our Partners

US Embassy

2015

This year the Embassy of the United States of America received an entourage of officials and some delegates of the conference ahead of the Conference. Madam Sarah F. Shabbir , the Cultural and Educational attaché for the Embassy received the delegation and established partnership with the Organization.

The Embassy assured us of their participation in the maiden edition of the conference and on that faithful day represented. A speech by the aforementioned official thrilled and encouraged delegates whose number was not encouraging. This initiated a healthy and strong relationship with the Embassy.

2016

In the year 2016, the Embassy supported the conference by donating books and stationery items to the organizers of the conference.

They also participated with three facilitators for the Diplomacy and Development Training Programme (DDTP) and donated a box full of books and stationery which enabled the office to have a mini-library.

2017

We received three officials from the Embassy as facilitators for the Diplomacy and Development Training Programme (DDTP).

Books on history, politics and economy of one of the buoyant economies in the world, USA were donated to participants. Several practical and illustrational works on teamwork, Diplomacy and International Development were taught by facilitators.

2018

Twenty-five delegates from the Three Hundred (300) conference delegation visited the Embassy during the Ambassadorial Visit. Interactions on the work of the

Chinese Embassy

2017

This year the Chinese Embassy received Delegates for the Ambassadorial Visit. The Ambassador presented to delegates on the Historical background of China in relation to Africa and shared political and economic relations as well. Delegates asked varying questions from economy to world politics.

Netherlands Embassy

2015

Netherlands Embassy has been so supportive since the inception of International Youth Diplomacy Conference. This year the Embassy received all the delegates and officials of the conference. With the facilitation of the deputy Ambassador, a highly respectable Diplomat, Madam Caecilia Wijgers, delegates studied so much about the Netherlands and even what the Embassy does in Ghana and other African countries. She shared so many opportunities in the Netherlands with delegates and shared resource materials to all of them.

2016

The ambassadorial visit continued this year with the Embassy as delegates interacted with the officials on the theme of the conference. Delegates received resource materials and interacted on building skills in Diplomacy.

For the facilitation of the Diplomacy and Development Training Programme (DDTP), the Netherlands Embassy invited participants to their premise and presented on the topic: the role of the Netherlands in Diplomacy in the world, and in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and how they have shaped the world positively.

The Embassy invited the organization to participate in a youth dialogue at the Ambassador’s Residence.

2017

This year delegates visited the Embassy for the usual Ambassadorial package.

The Embassy invited and we partook in a Movie Night and dialogue on youth empowerment at the Residence of the Ambassador.

2018

Delegates of the International Youth Diplomacy Conference visited the Embassy this year and had a long day of engagement which is believed to have built the culture of Diplomacy in them.

French Embassy

2016

In the year 2016, delegates visited the Embassy to initiate a lasting relationship with them. IYDC entered into a partnership with the French Embassy on Ambassadorial visit where-by delegates visit the embassy to learn and imbibe the culture of Diplomacy in them.

2017

In the year, Delegates visited the Embassy and had a long day of discussions which is believed to have built the culture of Diplomacy in them. Officials and diplomats shared much about the French Government’s contribution towards Africa and their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

2018

In the year 2018, delegates of the International Youth Diplomacy Conference visited the Embassy and had a long day of engagement which is believed to have built the culture of Diplomacy in them.

Russian Embassy

2015

In the year 2015, a delegation of four visited the Russian Embassy. The Deputy Ambassador received the delegation on behalf of the Embassy. He shared much about Russia and opened up so many educational opportunities to delegates.

Osei-Kusi Foundation

2015

Ambassadorial visit in the maiden year was interactive and motivational as the Executive Director, Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi and other officers made time to share much about the Osei-Kusi Foundation and much on Volunteerism with delegates. As well, delegates received some resource materials and books written by Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi.

Prior to the Ambassadorial Visit, the Executive President and his team spent time with delegates to present on self-branding and leadership skills during the Diplomatic Seminar and Panel Discussion at the Law Faculty Auditorium.

Delegates of the International Youth Diplomacy Conference visited the Osei-Kusi Foundation this year and had a long day of engagement which is believed to have built the culture of Diplomacy in them.

Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi presented to delegates as a speaker for the Diplomatic Seminar and Public Lecture at the African Studies Auditorium.

2017

In the year 2017, delegates visited the Osei-Kusi Foundation in Accra and engaged with the Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi and Madam Kakra on what their organization is doing to make an impact in the world. They distributed some learning materials to delegates. These are resource materials which will broaden delegates’ horizon on education, society, culture, and volunteerism.

Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi presented to delegates as a speaker for the Diplomatic Seminar and Public Lecture at the Law Faculty Auditorium.

Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi presented as a facilitator at the Diplomacy and Development Training Programme (DDTP) to support the organization.

Ambassadorial visit in this year’s edition was more interactive and intellectually stimulating as the Executive President, Dr. Kofi Osei-Kusi and other officers made time to share much about their organization and Diplomatic leadership with delegates. Like, being done in the past, delegates received some materials from the office.

Prior to the Ambassadorial Visit, the Executive President and his team spent time with delegates to present on self-branding and leadership skills during the Diplomatic Seminar and Panel Discussion at the Bank of Ghana Auditorium.

UN Information Centre

2016

In the year 2016, delegates visited UNIC office in Accra and engaged with the Madam Cynthia Prah, the Senior Information Officer on the United Nations. UNIC distributed some learning materials to delegates. These are resource materials which will broaden delegates’ horizon on education, society, culture, and the United Nations. The four-hour session was very needful and intellectually stimulating to delegates.

UNESCO

2017

In the year 2017, UNESCO Accra-Ghana office received some officials of IFEDGLOBAL in a discussion on strong partnership terms. It was agreed that in subsequent conferences required a number of delegates to visit the Accra, Ghana office to interact and learn from the Diplomats and officials there. It was also agreed verbally that UNESCO will be of so much support to IFED GLOBAL’s project within their capacity or confine.

In the year 2018, delegates visited UNESCO office in Accra and engaged with them on several issues. UNESCO distributed some learning materials to broaden delegates’ horizon on education, society, culture, and the United Nations. The three-hour session was very needful and intellectually stimulating for delegates.
